In Writing

My brain does this funny thing sometimes.   When I’m thinking  of something, my mind will offer up a song to go with it.  I will find myself randomly humming something to myself and wonder, “Where did that come from?”  If I think about the lyrics, if often becomes abundantly (and sometimes  amusingly) clear.

So this morning I woke up, looked at my phone (yes, it sleeps with me) and  saw a bunch  of notifications about everyone who had tweeted about my book birthday.   They were all beautiful, but one of them really took my breath away.  It said, “THE SECRET SIDE OF EMPTY sucks you in until you reach the last page and then it stays with you.”

I kept reading and it was a few minutes later that I noticed my brain had started up the soundtrack for the morning.  I don’t know the whole song, so the only phrase that kept rolling around in my head was, “Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this.”  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7b8ADhadJU&feature=kp

I’m pretty sure the songwriter didn’t mean for it to apply to book birthdays but for me, today, it does.  This person definitely waited half a lifetime for a moment like this.  And it feels just as good as I hoped it would.
