In Writing

Yesterday, still feeling the glow of Day 1 of my positivity challenge, I went into my Google Drive to look up old resources from classes and books I’ve read on the subject of positive thinking. I came across so many wonderful things I’d forgotten! Among my favorites was finding a document I wrote detailing my wishes for my future on the week after my ex-husband moved out. I was so desperately sad, not just at the marriage ending, but at so many things in my life that weren’t working. I made a list of things I wanted. Incredibly, five years later, it reads like a laundry list of everything I have today. Amazing. Being clear on the goal really does work wonders.

So, today, here’s what I’m grateful for:

1. I am grateful that everything I’ve wanted, I’ve gotten. I realized this a few months ago and it kind of blew my mind. I’m not talking about material things, although those are certainly included. I’m talking about true wishes. It has sometimes taken years (or, in the case of my writing career, decades), but wanting something steadily and truly enough has always resulted in success. Crazy, right? When I realized this it sort of changed my view of the world and of myself.

2. I am grateful for my health. When I was younger I always thought this was an old-person thing to be grateful for. But now that I had that little scare earlier this year I realize how I cherish feeling well and how it makes everything else possible.

3. I am grateful for my new job. Interesting work, a sweetheart commute and a chance to make a great living. What is not to love?

That’s it for me today. How about you?
