In Featured, Writing

What do you get when you put together something like 50 YA authors and thousands of YA readers in one cool space? The Texas Teen Book Festival! Here I am back at home after a whirlwind 35 hours in Austin, which was totally awesomesauce. Books, books, more books, time to connect with readers, teachers and writers… my idea of heaven.

My panel was called Free to Be Me (oh yeah) and included the inimitable Sonia Manzano (Maria of Sesame Street), plus Kaui Hart Hemmings, whom I’d never met before but who was absolutely awesome and whose book, The Descendants, was made into an acclaimed movie with George Clooney, plus Una LaMarche, whose book Unabrow I read on the flight to Austin (it kept me giggling the whole way).
