In Writing

If you’re a regular reader, you may know I’ve been despairing about everything the migrant crisis at our border means: childhood trauma with lifelong consequences, pain, and a callousness in our nation that leaves me winded and sad.

So, there’s not much any one of us can do, but together we can do a lot. I started to reach out to people I know and like in the publishing industry, and, lo and behold, Writers for Families Together was born. Together with the indefatigable Kelly Loy Gilbert, author of the William Morris finalist, Conviction, we pulled together a ton of great donations and a quick website. It’s an auction and raffle of just the coolest literary prizes: critiques from agents and editors (which can be priceless in advancing a career), signed first edition New York Times bestsellers, and other awesome stuff. If you’re a writer or a book lover, there’s something for you. What’s best is that your donation will go to help the family reunification effort.

Click here to check out the site. And, please, bid away! This auction will only be up for a week (ends Friday, July 13th at midnight Eastern). I can’t wait to update you on how much we raise!
