…watching blankets of gorgeous, powdery snow from a warm and toasty house.
…having kids old enough to help shovel.
…having said kids not grumble once about helping.
…having enough money to pay a guy to shovel the walk, but being healthy enough to go out and do it myself.
…seeing the bluejays feast on the food I left out for them, joined by cardinals and sparrows and all manner of lively things in such cold circumstances.
…coming in from the shoveling to an email invitation to an industry cocktail party during American Library Association’s meeting because – how did this happen?! – somewhere along the way I grew up to be a Real Writer like I always wanted to be.
I just love snow days.
